Course Description

This course presents valuable insights on presenting the timeless message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and calling for a response of repentance and faith.

       and
  • BIB 3200 previously completed with a minimum grade of D

  • Contributes .5 credits to LUOA Bible Requirement, Bible Requirement.

Rationale

An evangelist must be competent to share the Gospel in a public setting and to ask the listeners for a decision. The purpose of this course is to equip students with the practical skills for delivering an evangelistic message and extending an invitation.

Discussions (2)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must demonstrate course-specific knowledge related to the 5 elements of the Gospel. In addition to the thread, the student is also required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads as part of the assignment. (CLO: B)

Message Outline Assignments (2)

The student will write a traditional outline (introduction, body, conclusion) as well as a relational outline (me, we, God, you, we) that can be used for an evangelistic message. Each point or part of the outline must be a paragraph. (CLO: D)

Invitation Video Assignment

The student will submit a 4-6 minute video on YouTube giving an evangelistic invitation. The student must also submit a written transcript of the invitation that indicates the intended setting as well as the message outline. (CLO: C)

Sermon Analysis Assignment

The student will watch an evangelistic sermon in order to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses using a Sermon Analysis Form. (CLO: A)

Quizzes (8)

The student will take an open-book/open-notes quiz once a week covering the Learn material presented for that module. Each exam consists of randomized multiple-choice and true/false questions and has 50 possible points. Two of the quizzes have a short essay question at the end. All quizzes must be completed within the 1-hour time limit. (CLO: E)
