Course Description

Project data are managed, but project teams are led. This course explores key elements for leading projects well, including the development of diverse, high performance teams, and provides case-based opportunities for application of a student’s project management skills.

Rationale

This course continues to build on the fundamentals of project management, but adds the variables involved in managing globally. At the completion of this course, the student should be able to factor additional issues involved in global project management: such as communications, culture, time zones, laws, etc.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will participate in 4 Discussions. Each discussion will consist of a thread (200 words) and at least 2 replies (100 words each). Each discussion is based on a chapter topic. Outside research will be required, including at least two scholarly citations for the thread and at least one scholarly citation for each reply. The instructor is looking for substantial, thoughtful, and critical discussions.

Paper

The student will complete three Paper: Assessment Summary Assignments in this course. For each assignment, the student will reference the self-assessment Interact items and present a 3-page paper (not including the title and reference page) written in APA format.

Final Paper: Leadership Review Assignment

The individual leadership paper will allow each student to reflect on effective team leadership in light of current research and analyzing it from self-assessments, reflections, and a Christian perspective. The main body of the paper will be six (not more than seven) pages in length, plus a title page (no abstract) and a reference page. At least five references are required, three of which must be from academic, peer-reviewed journals from the last five years, plus the Bible and the course text. Other resources may be used but will not count toward the three scholarly references.

Quizzes (13)

The student will complete 13 quizzes through Connect. All quizzes are open-book/open-notes, but the student may not receive help from another person while taking the quiz. The quiz questions will be multiple-choice and true/false.
