EVAN 201: Preparation for Personal Evangelism

Course Description

This course is designed to build upon the student’s knowledge and understanding of personal evangelism by exploring three essential foundational areas: the content of the gospel, the fall of man, and the Great Commission as assigned by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rationale

This course is designed to introduce the student to the ministry rationale and hallmark resources associated with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Beyond that, this course seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the rationale for a strategic and Gospel-based evangelistic lifestyle.

Discussions (3)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be a minimum of 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to a minimum of two other classmates’ threads, even though more replies are encouraged. Each reply must be a minimum of 150 words. Gospel Components Project Assignments (2)

The student will complete a two-part project that focuses upon the understanding of the six key components that comprise the gospel message that were formally introduced in The Gospel and Personal Evangelism by Mark Dever. First, the student will cover the components of creation, sin, and atonement. Second, the student will cover the components of resurrection, repentance, and faith. Each paper will be 3 to 4 pages in length and require a minimum of 4 scholarly resources. (CLO: A, D)

Gospel Presentation Assignment

The student will create an 8 to 12-minute video in which he/she gives a clear and formal presentation of the gospel that connects with what was learned in the Gospel Components Project Assignments. The student will also show his/her video to a minimum of 3 people and ask each person 3 questions related to the gospel and the video presentation. The student will then consolidate the interview into a 500 – 600-word synopsis. (CLO: A, B, C, D)

Evangelistic Outreach Project Assignments (2)

The student will complete a two-part project that develops a strategic plan for an evangelistic outreach event. First, the student will compose a 2 to 4-page, research based paper that formulates the strategic plan. Second, the student will also meet with his/her church leadership in order to collaborate about the plan so as to evaluate its effectiveness and how it can be improved. (CLO: E)

Quizzes (2)

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the designated Module: Week stated in its instructions. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 25 multiple-choice and/or true/false questions, and have a 60-minute time limit. (CLO: A, C, D)
