Rationale
In support of the published Liberty University Philosophy and Mission Aims, this course seeks to provide students with academic content that: (1) enables engagement in a major field of study built on a solid foundation of liberal arts [Aim 5]; (2) development of competence and determination in the approach to the chosen vocation [Aim 7]; (3) promote the synthesis of academic knowledge and Christian values in order that there might be a maturing of spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical behavior [Aim 8]. Students will gain a knowledge and understanding of the concepts of management and leadership, which will enable them to gain insight into the theories and concepts of organizations.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete 3 Discussions throughout this course. Each student will write a thread between 400–475 words with support from peer-reviewed sources, cited in current APA format for each thread.
Additionally, during the same module/week, the student will be required to post a substantive reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each individual reply must be at least 250 words in length with support from peer-reviewed sources, cited in current APA format.
Read & Interact Textbook Assignments (8)
The student will complete 8 Read & Interact Textbook Assignments in Connect. The assignments will consist of LearnSmart activities. All assignments for a given module/week are divided into weekly folders inside the Connect platform.
Homework Simulation Assignments (4)
The student will complete 4 Homework Simulation Assignments based on the material in the text. These assignments will be accessed through the Connect platform.
Key Concept Paper Assignment
Students will choose a concept that they would like to explore further and write a 1,000-word paper on the topic. The paper will have a cover page and an abstract and will be written in current APA format. Five scholarly sources that have been published within the past 4 years are required.
Quizzes: Essays (4)
The student will respond to 4 essay-question quizzes throughout the course, which will be scheduled every other week. Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned modules. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 2 essay questions, and have a 20-minute time limit. The quizzes are in the weekly folders inside the Connect platform.
Quizzes (4)
The student will complete 4 quizzes in this course. Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned modules. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 55 multiple-choice or true/false questions, and have a 55-minute time limit. The quizzes must be completed in one sitting. The quizzes are in the weekly folders inside the Connect platform.
