Discussions (3)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student must provide the required work in the prompt for each discussion. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each thread must be at least 400 words and no more than 500 words. Each reply must make meaningful contributions to a classmate’s thread in at least 250 words. Each thread must utilize at least 3 in-text citations from scholarly sources and at least 1 biblical application with Scripture reference as support. Each reply must utilize at least 2 in-text citations from scholarly sources and at least 1 biblical application with Scripture reference as support. The reference sections of both the thread and the two replies must have at least 2 scholarly references and 1 biblical reference. The thread and replies for each discussion must adhere to current APA format and demonstrate appropriate, coherent, and concise written communication skills.
Video Discussion: Class Introductions
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will submit a well-organized, 2-minute-minimum video presentation introducing himself or herself to fellow classmates. The presentation must include relevant information about the student and his or her goals as described on the thread page. The student must be creative with his or her presentation. It is recommended that the student use Kaltura to create the presentation. The student may use the links in the Video Discussion: Class Introductions Resources section on the thread page in Canvas to explore how to use Kaltura. If the student is not comfortable with Kaltura, the student must use a technology medium that allows the presentation to include the student’s face and audio (such as Zoom, Teams, or a recorded PowerPoint presentation). The student may use slides to convey information, but this is not required. In the presentation, the student’s face must remain visible while speaking. The student may use notes for the video presentation, but good eye contact with the camera/audience must be maintained without reading directly from notes throughout. The student should test his or her video before embedding it into the discussion thread. This will be a graded assignment, and the student must reply to at least two other classmate introductions as well. The replies must be 150 words minimum per reply, be well-organized, engage with the thread, and provide further dialogue with the presenter. All posts must meet expectations and contain no spelling or grammar errors.
Eras in Aviation Paper Assignment
This assignment has three primary goals: first, for each student to better develop his or her APA writing skills and explore the available resources provided by Liberty University (Jerry Falwell Library, Online Writing Center, etc.) for writing and research; second, for the student to immerse himself or herself in a specific aspect of aviation history; and third, this and the subsequent Eras in Aviation Paper: Update Assignment will form the basis for the student’s Eras in Aviation Presentation Assignment in which the student will present his or her research via a narrated PowerPoint presentation. The student will submit an APA-formatted paper based on a specific aviator, aircraft, world event involving aviation, or technological aviation breakthrough. This paper will be 1.5 to 2 pages, not including the title page and reference page, and require at least one (1) reference. All content must be relevant to the topic and demonstrate strong understanding and/or thought to the chosen topic. The writing style should be appropriate to an academic paper, using third person and proper spelling and grammar.
Eras in Aviation Paper: Update Assignment
Each student will update and add to the previously submitted Eras in Aviation Paper Assignment. The student is expected to incorporate feedback and comments provided on the original Eras in Aviation Paper Assignment. Additionally, the student is expected to include one more (additional) section AND at least one additional reference related to the subject or topic of the original paper. This paper will be 2.5 to 3 pages (not including the title page and reference page) and require at least two (2) references. The paper must adhere to current APA format. All content must be relevant to the topic and demonstrate strong understanding and/or thought to the chosen topic. The writing style should be appropriate to an academic paper, using third person and proper spelling and grammar.
Networking E-mail Assignment
In this assignment, each student will craft a professional-style e-mail introducing himself or herself to an individual in the aviation industry. Each student will research and identify an individual with whom to establish contact in order to begin developing a network of contacts. The student will submit a Word document that includes the following elements: e-mail address of the individual, e-mail subject line, greeting/salutation, message/purpose, conclusion/request, and closing/signature/name. The e-mail should be short and concise while still achieving the student’s goal. The intent of the assignment is that the student will actually send the e-mail to the individual in the aviation industry. The writing style must be appropriate and professional with no spelling or grammar errors.
Business Card Assignment
In this assignment, each student will design/develop a professional-style, aviation-related business card. The student will submit a screen capture, PDF, photo, or other type of document that shows the front and back of the actual business card or the business card design. At minimum, the business card must include the student’s name, contact information, and aviation industry career field and/or certifications. The intent of this assignment is that the student will actually produce, purchase, and use the business card designed when interacting with aviation professionals. The overall presentation must be appropriate and professional, with no spelling or grammar errors.
Eras in Aviation Presentation Assignment
The student will complete this assignment in a visual presentation format. The visual presentation must include a 4- to 6-minute-minimum recorded presentation on the research and findings of the Eras in Aviation Paper: Update Assignment. The content must clearly explain the topic and thoroughly address all aspects of the assignment. The student must be creative with his or her presentation. It is recommended that the student use Kaltura to create the presentation. The student may use the links in the Eras in Aviation Presentation Resources section on the assignment page in Canvas to explore how to use Kaltura. If the student is not comfortable with Kaltura, the student must use a technology medium that allows the presentation to include the student’s face and audio (such as Zoom, Teams, or a recorded PowerPoint presentation). In the presentation, the student must maintain a professional appearance, and the student’s face must remain visible while speaking. The student may use notes for the video presentation, but good eye contact with the camera/audience must be maintained without reading directly from notes throughout. The speaking portions of the presentation should reflect excellent wording, diction, and delivery to show that the student has rehearsed multiple times. Slides should be well designed, with all information clearly and concisely displayed with no spelling or grammar errors. The student should test his or her video before submitting.
StrengthsFinder 2.0 Personal Assessment Assignment
This assignment has two primary goals: first, for each student to be introduced to his or her personal strengths as outlined and described in StrengthsFinder 2.0 (Rath, 2007); and second, for each student to conduct a personal assessment, reflect on, identify, and describe his or her three most prominent personal strengths. Each student will submit content that is relevant and demonstrates strong understanding and/or thought as it pertains to the CliftonStrengths from StrengthsFinder 2.0. This APA-formatted paper will be 1.5 to 2 pages, not including the title page and reference page, and require at least one (1) reference to StrengthsFinder 2.0. The writing style should be appropriate to an academic paper with proper spelling and grammar, but the paper should use first person since the student is describing his or her personal strengths.
