Course Description

Explores the practice of evidence-based management relative to healthcare decision-making and support. Topics explored include, but not limited to, evolution of evidence based healthcare; locating and evaluating evidence; developing the capacity of healthcare managers to utilize evidence in decision-making, and evidence based healthcare in the 21st century.

Rationale

Evidence-based management is based on decision-making and organizational practices that are formed based on analyzing data. The actual practice of evidence-based decision-making originated from medicine and focused decision making on an empirical approach to address issues. It is grounded in scientific methodology that utilizes data collection and analysis to advance knowledge.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each module.

Literature Review Assignment

The student will create a Literature Review based on 4 articles that support recommendations in their chosen clinical guideline. The articles will include 2 quantitative and 2 qualitative research articles (one may be mixed method) using the provided matrix template.

Protecting Human Research Participants Assignment

The student will complete a paper on Protecting Human Research Participants using the provided template.

Levels of Evidence Assignment

The student will use the research from the Literature Review to identify and provide the levels of evidence in the articles chosen. The student must also include a summary description of the levels chosen using the provided template.

Quizzes (3)

The student will take the quizzes, which consist of true/false and multiple choice questions. The 3 quizzes are Open Book.
