Course Description
This semester-long course introduces students to the importance of maintaining a healthy mind, body, and spirit through life-long health habits that are protective against chronic disease. Students investigate the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of topics such as nutrition, overall health, body image, social health, stress, and appropriate use of social media. Additionally, students explore the normal function of major body systems and the disorders associated with those systems. Through safety and first aid training, students will learn CPR skills and the proper use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). While HPEG100 is designed for ninth-grade students, the course can be taken by any high school student.
