Global Medicine Outreach and Study

As part of the vision at LUCOM and LU Send, we want to foster students’ interest in serving others and sharing the Gospel in medical missions. For this, we sponsor conferences and speakers with an emphasis on medical missions.

One of our goals is to give students a hands-on experience working alongside medical professionals in a missions setting. As an initial experience, we plan 1-2 week faculty led mission trips to places in places such as El Salvador, working with established mission clinics in outreach to their communities.  For a more in-depth experience, we work with mission organizations and mission hospitals to set up one month rotations for our fourth year students to work in a mission hospital. Most recently, these rotations have been in Kenya and are now planned for Eswatini as well.

Through our partnership with Samaritan’s Purse (World Medical Mission), students, under the guidance of LUCOM faculty and other physicians, are able to engage in clinical training in mission hospitals internationally. LUCOM has developed a partnership with Shalom Family Medical Center (Harvesting in Spanish) in El Salvador for short term medical ministry trips.

For students wishing to make a payment, please select which trip you plan on attending: Spring Trip and/or Summer Trip.

Stay up to date on LUCOM’s current and future plans in the City of Lynchburg and in partnering countries such as El Salvador, Kenya and Eswatini.
