Technology Requirement for 2015/16
Mon, 13 Jul 2015School of Engineering and Computation Sciences
The purpose of this page is to give a brief overview of the laptop requirements for all undergraduate (and transfer) students entering the School of Engineering and Computational Science.
Each student is required to have a laptop, and the laptop configurations given below represent minimum hardware and software requirements that enable students to run the core software required by Engineering and Computing students. Students can choose between a Windows-based or Apple laptop.
In some disciplines, the software requires Windows. Since Apple computers use the same Intel chips, they can be configured either to boot up in Windows (using free software, such as Bootcamp that is provided by Apple) or utilizing VMware Fusion to run Windows in parallel with Mac OS (e.g., VMware Fusion is provided free of charge via our VMware Academic Alliance.).
Labs are provided to for courses needing higher computing capabilities or access to Liberty licensed software.
Please note that all students (including MS in Cyber Security full-time students) have access to Microsoft’s Dreamspark and VM Ware Academic Software free of charge.
