Student Osteopathic Surgical Association (SOSA)

Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM)-Student Osteopathic Surgical Association (SOSA) will host the 2017 National Spring Conference on Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2, at the Center for Medical and Health Sciences (CMHS) on the campus of Liberty University.

The conference will feature guest speakers from throughout the country, workshops that will challenge student-doctors on various surgical procedures and skills, a residency panel, as well as elections for positions on the SOSA National Board.

This is the first national conference that LUCOM has hosted since its inception and expectations are high. “This is a tremendous honor to be able to provide our new facility and location at Liberty University as a student representation of the parent group, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons,” said Ray L. Morrison, DO, FACOS, assistant dean of Clinical Education. “This is a very significant event in the young life of Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine and I think it will demonstrate that as a school, we have a significant desire to be an educational leader nationally.”

LUCOM student-doctors desire to showcase the distinctiveness of a faith-based medical institution and will have the opportunity to do so with medical students, as well as nationally known physician educators, coming from throughout the country.

SOSA is dedicated to providing aspiring surgeons with relevant information about the ever-growing field of surgery. In addition, SOSA is constantly looking for new ways in which student-doctors can contribute to the community through volunteer programs.
