LUCOM student-doctor elected to national leadership role

A Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) student-doctor is now a part of a leadership body that represents osteopathic medical students on a national level.

During the annual meeting of the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP), April 7-10, Anya-Faye Pacleb, class of 2018, was elected to the office of secretary.

“It is an incredible honor and equally as humbling. All I had ever hoped to do through leadership was to serve in whatever capacity I could, and I never imagined that this journey would take me to a position where I now represent student-doctors across the nation,” said Pacleb.

Pacleb has been very active at LUCOM, including serving as Vice President of LUCOM-Student Government Association (SGA). Ronnie Martin, D.O., dean of LUCOM, says he is confident that Pacleb will represent herself and LUCOM with distinction and honor.

“A mark of being a professional is a willingness to give of yourself and assuming responsibilities for the benefit of others. Leadership demands integrity, commitment, vision and, often, personal sacrifice. Anya has demonstrated all of these traits as a student-doctor and a leader at LUCOM. The osteopathic profession, its colleges and students will benefit greatly from her service and contributions in the years to come, this election being only the first of many contributions I expect her to make to our profession,” said Dr. Martin.

As COSFP secretary, Pacleb’s main responsibilities are to record minutes during meetings and to be a conduit for communication between the COSGP Executive Board and the general council. She is also responsible for planning service projects at each of the quarterly meetings and is a leader of the COSGP Student Services Committee.

“I am so proud to represent LUCOM, because there are so many great things that our school does for its student-doctors, and this position gives me the opportunity to share all of that with schools across the nation. As a new school, we still have a lot of growing to do, and I hope to be a resource that helps effect positive change and improvements here at LUCOM,” said Pacleb.
