Dr. Maitland relocated from New Hampshire to join the faculty of LUCOM in 2017. She is a graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (’98). She also holds a BA from Eastern Nazarene College (’88) and an MPH from Boston University (’93). Prior to attending medical school, she was a senior research associate at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass., where she authored over a dozen journal articles on the topic of osteoporosis.

After completing her training in Family Medicine at the NH Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency, she fulfilled her National Health Service Corps Scholarship obligation by practicing full-scope Family Medicine in rural Rumford, Maine.

Dr. Maitland returned to New Hampshire in 2004 where she practiced Family Medicine, including Obstetrics, for nearly 13 years. She was privileged to take care of generations of large families. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Maitland has been active in teaching Family Medicine residents at the NH Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency, her alma mater, since 2004. She looks forward to continuing teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians here at LUCOM. Out of interest in health promotion, Dr. Maitland has served on the Board of Directors for the Endowment for Human Development, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health science education and public health.

While Dr. Maitland enjoys caring for large families and individuals of all ages, her particular interests include pediatrics, women’s health and preventative healthcare. She also has a passion for medical outreach and has participated in several international medical mission trips.
