Local news station features LUCOM as a contributor in economic growth

 

      

At the start of the New Year, Liberty University’s new Center for Medical and Health Sciences is already making headlines as a significant contributor to the economic growth of Lynchburg, VA. The new facility, located atop Candlers Mountain Road, overlooks the main campus of Liberty University and currently employs 25 faculty members and 25 administrative staff; a number which will double throughout 2014 and into 2015.

Roanoke based news station, WDBJ-7, reports that LUCOM will generate nearly $50-million annually into the Lynchburg economy and will be a training ground for doctors who are prepared to fill the region's growing demand for physicians.

The new center, which broke ground November 2011, is near completion with an anticipated ribbon-cutting this upcoming May.
