Student-doctors, faculty prepare for public OMM Clinic

From their very first week at the Center for Medical and Health Sciences (CMHS), Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) student-doctors have been learning Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), a non-invasive, hands-on approach that is used to diagnose, treat and even prevent illness and injury.

Student-doctors practice their OMM skills.OMM is taught under the osteopathic philosophy of treating the whole person, not just symptoms and the principle that the structure of the body is related to its function and wellness. The goal of OMM is to restore the body to normal function. By doing so, the treatment improves the patient’s health and improves or prevents disease, aches and pains without medications or surgery.

In April and May, the public is invited to receive this free treatment* at the CMHS. Student-doctors will provide the service under LUCOM physician supervision.

There are four sessions offered. Participants who sign up for the first two sessions in April have the opportunity to attend a follow-up session in May.

  • Session 1: Monday, April 11
  • Session 2: Monday, April 18
  • Session 3: Monday, May 2
  • Session 4: Monday, May 9

Appointment times: 1, 2 3, and 4 p.m.

If you are interested in receiving treatment, please call Teresa Gibson, Administrative Assistant for the Department of Clinical Medicine, at (434) 582-2160 to schedule your appointments.

*Any person receiving treatment related to a workers’ compensation case, engaged in evaluation for or receiving treatment for a disability claim, or involved in any current or potential legal proceeding related to injury or professional health care related treatment is excluded from this complementary clinic.
