Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) has been selected by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners as one of a limited number of colleges of osteopathic medicine to participate in the Spring 2026 pilot of the Core Competency Capstone for DOs (C3DO).
This innovative assessment model represents a significant advancement in the evaluation of osteopathic medical students’ clinical competencies, integrating clinical reasoning, patient communication, and hands-on skills in a comprehensive, school-administered format.
LUCOM’s selection reflects its ongoing commitment to excellence in medical education and its leadership in preparing future physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Participation in the C3DO pilot provides LUCOM faculty and students with a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a national standard for clinical skills assessment in osteopathic medicine.
“We are honored to be selected as a pilot site for this important initiative,” said LUCOM leadership. “This opportunity allows us to help shape the future of clinical skills evaluation while continuing to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.”
The Spring 2026 pilot will contribute to the continued refinement of the C3DO model as part of NBOME’s efforts to ensure rigorous, relevant, and accessible assessment of osteopathic medical competencies.
