2/11 - Wellness Series: Be Sweet to Your Heart!" with Dana Woody

He has "Fearfully and wonderfully" made our bodies as temples of service. The heart is the main squeeze; the big pump; the time piece; where the treasure is. Understanding its service to our bodies and for Him is most important. Come learn the functionality and common conditions of  the heart, and hear healthy activities as we get to the heart of the matter.

  • Learn how to describe the functionality of the heart.
  • Learn how to define three heart conditions.
  • Perform three heart healthy activities.
     

2/12-3/11 - Student Weight Loss Training Program

When: February 12 - March 11
          Monday/Wednesday - 3-4 p.m. (Workouts with Trainer)
          Friday - 3-4 p.m. (Registered Dietician Meetings)

Who: Liberty Students

What: Participants will meet with a LaHaye Personal Trainer three times a week for 4 weeks to progress through a weight loss specific training program. One day per week participants will have a small group session with the registered dietician to discuss specific topics relevant to weight loss and better health. Two days per week participants will have an hour long workout with the trainer. Participants can expect to set goals, learn fundamentals of effective fitness programming, gain strength, endurance and decrease body fat.

Cost: $50 per person (No refunds will be given)

How to apply: Fill out the Weight Loss Training Program Application at the LaHaye front desk. Only ten applicants will be accepted based on order they are received, need and desire to fully participate in the program. Once accepted applicant is expected to pay prior to the first session.

 

2/13 - Synrgy Workshop

Would you like to know more about what those two red "jungle gyms" in the loft are for? Have you ever had the desire to try new exercises but didn't want to look silly in the gym? Are you currently burnt out on your current workout routine and want to mix it up? Join us, as we demonstrate and teach a wide variety of uses for the Synrgy 360. This will be an interactive and hands on workshop so come dressed to participate. We will cover each piece of equipment's function, exercise options, and proper technique.

  • Learn what the Synrgy 360 is and why it is valuable to you
  • Attain Knowledge of new exercises and proper technique
  • Incorporate new exercises into your plan to maximize strength


2/16 - Wellness Series: "Navigating the Work of Relationships from Birth Until Death Do You Part: Need a GPS?" with Rachel Van Dyk

2/20 - Inversion Workshop

In this workshop you can expect to work hard, be on your hands, flip your perspective, and challenge your strength and balance. This workshop is meant for those looking to learn correct form and tools to improve their inversions. Experience with Flow and Inversions is recommended but not required.

  • Learn the basics of inversions.
  • Discover new challenging variations and progressions.
  • Increase strength and balance.


2/20 - Pool Battleship
1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
LaHaye Pool

Teams consist of two to three people per canoe. We will provide buckets, shields and more for your teams to through water into the opposing teams' canoes in an attempt to sink their battleship before they sink yours. Check Outdoor Rec's website to sign up for this free competition and get more information.

  • All equipment is provided.
  • Clever and crazy uniforms are encouraged.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the winning battleship!


2/23 - Wellness Series: "Get Off the Scales and Get On With Your Life" with Linda Mintle, Ph.D.

This growing obsessiveness drives us to shape our daily lives around time-consuming regimens of dieting, exercising, muscle toning, cosmetics, plastic surgery, sports competition, and sweat-producing activity of every kind imaginable. It's time to stop - get off the scale and get on with your life.

  • Understand the influences that pressure you to live in discontent.
  • Know the dangers that obsession and perfection can create.
  • Learn strategies to fight negative influences and prevent food, weight, and body issues.

Bring a friend and your compassion to have your questions answered about what you can do to promote healthy body image in sphere of influence, healing your relationship with food, and how you and your friends can help one another to rediscover your true identity in Christ. Come and join a discussion with a panel of experts in various professions.

2/26 - Bouldering Competition
4:00 - 10:00 p.m.
LaHaye Rock Wall

Curious what it's like to be in a rock climbing competition? Come and join us for a chance to have a great time with music, food, prizes, and fellowship with other students of all levels. There is a beginner, intermediate, and advanced category. Awards are given for our top male and female, top dyno competitor, and crash pad stacking competition winner. Have a chance to win great gear from our event sponsors, or one of $75 worth of raffles just for participating!

You will be able to choose to join a group of no more than 40 others for 2.5 hours of climbing. Prizes and awards will be given out after all groups have finished and results are determined.

Pre-registration is $5 and day of registration is $10.
