Biography
Dr. Johnston received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Samford University. She then went on to complete a pharmacy practice residency at Emory Healthcare and a pediatric specialty residency at the University of Chicago Medicine. While completing her residencies, she earned a certificate of teaching from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Mercer University. Prior to joining LUCOM, Johnston served on the faculty at Lipscomb University for 13 years. While there, she had a leadership role within the Vanderbilt Program in Interprofessional Learning. She also had an established clinical practice site at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where she provided pharmaceutical care on an interprofessional medical team to children in the hospital. She was recognized as Preceptor of the Year in 2016 and Faculty of the Year in 2022 during her tenure at Lipscomb, reflecting her commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship.
Johnston is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist.
