Required Chaplaincy Internship (CHPL 699)
This internship is only available for our online Chaplaincy students. Be sure to review the CHPL 699 distinctives below.

Chaplaincy Internship Distinctives:
- CHPL 699 Requirement: CHPL 500, CHPL 598, CHPL 655, CHPL 680, 681, 682, or 683; HOMI 500 or 601, and PACO 500
- CHPL 499 Requirement: CHPL 200, CHPL 220, CRIS 302, RLGN 360, CHPL 480, 481, 482, or 483
Before applying, identify the ministry site where you want to conduct your internship. Explore ministry internship sites that stretch your faith and grow your gifts—serve in your current pastoral role (with a supervisor), in local churches, volunteer as a chaplain in a hospital, or work in parachurch ministries. Consider cross-cultural settings, homeless shelters, hunger outreach, and more.
Your ideal candidate for Ministry Supervisor will have at least a Master of Divinity, and if in a chaplain role, the supervisor should hold an active faith group endorsement. Ministry Supervisors without these credentials will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Your Ministry Supervisor will be directly responsible for your activities, so be sure to get his/her consent before committing to it. You will need to participate in a weekly Mentor Meeting with your Ministry Supervisor.
You are required to complete 150 contact hours per semester, with a minimum of 7 hours of face-to-face ministry and a maximum of 3 hours of administrative/preparation work per week.
