Credit and Non-Credit Technical Studies Training
Pursue a trade that meets today’s job market demands through Technical Studies training offered in both credit and non-credit formats. Liberty University offers technical studies courses approved by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). These courses are available to current and prospective Liberty University students through the For-Credit Student enrollment option and to members of the community through the Non-Credit Learner enrollment option.
For-Credit Students
Current or prospective Liberty University students who are seeking a degree in Technical Studies or a minor in Technical Studies. Learn about our trade program and course options.
Non-Credit Learners
Members of the public who are not enrolled in an academic degree at Liberty University may register for any of Liberty’s Non-Credit Technical Studies courses.
Formal Training at a Christian University
Get formal training approved by the NCCER. Here, you’ll be equipped to pursue an apprenticeship toward journeyman and/or state certification.
To meet your needs, Liberty offers four options that will help you pursue a trade:
- Area of Study in an Interdisciplinary Studies degree
- Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Technical Studies. (More than one trade can be pursued.)
- Technical Studies minor in five trades that can enhance your bachelor’s degree:
- Carpentry
- Electrical
- HVAC
- Plumbing
- Welding
- Elective courses in the five trade options.
More than one trade can be pursued as long as courses are taken in sequential order.
Prerequisite Course (CRFT 101):
Introduction to Craft Skills serves as the orientation and foundation for each technical studies specialization. Topics addressed include introductions to: Safety (OSHA 10), Construction Math, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Communication Skills, Employability Skills, and Materials Handling. This course serves as a prerequisite and can be taken concurrently with all technical studies foundation courses.
As a part of this program, transportation will be provided to Liberty University’s state-of-the-art training facility.
