We’re excited to get you ready for the new Inclusive Access initiative! Understandably, there are some questions that may arise and we’re here to address them! You may use the buttons below to jump to the relevant section or feel free to skim for what you’re looking for. If you can’t find an answer on this page, please contact the Center for Academic Development at CAD@liberty.edu.
Your books will be available embedded in your Canvas shell. However, if you want advanced awareness of which textbooks will be used in your course(s), you can review textbooks on Barnes & Noble College (bncvirtual.com/liberty).
What if I want a hard copy?
All course materials will be listed on Barnes & Noble College with their ISBN included. If available, a hard-copy version will be listed on Barnes & Noble College (bncvirtual.com/liberty). If not, you can use the ISBN to purchase a physical version from another retailer. In many situations, publishers will offer an inexpensive, Print-on-Demand option within their platform, if you end up wanting a physical version after the course begins.
Where do I find the ISBN for books, if I want to purchase a hard copy?
The ISBN for each required resource can be found on Barnes & Noble College (bncvirtual.com/liberty).
Can I purchase a loose-leaf version, if I want?
In most cases, you sure can! Our preferred vendors are providing an option to purchase inexpensive, loose-leaf versions. If applicable, you will find them at Barnes & Noble College (bncvirtual.com/liberty).
Are all books digital?
In the majority of situations, all course materials will be offered digitally. In select situations, a physical item may be shipped, whether that is a kit or textbook. However, a physical item will be rarely leveraged as a course resource.
What if my course has a kit?
If your course has required physical items, like a kit, that must be shipped, those materials will be shipped no later than the week prior to course starting.
Fees & Accounts
Will there be a fee for Inclusive Access?
LUO Undergraduate courses will have an inclusive access fee charged and LUO Undergraduate students will also see a waiver for that fee. LUO Graduate and Residential students will not receive a waiver of that fee.
How much do I pay for my books?
Under the Inclusive Access initiative that rolls out for LUO Undergraduate students, course materials will be provided at no cost. For all other levels and campuses, course materials can be purchased as normal.
Are my books covered if I take a Graduate Course?
Textbooks are provided for students taking online Undergraduate courses and students taking online School of Divinity Graduate and Doctoral courses. For all other courses, you will be required to purchase your textbooks from Barnes & Noble College (bncvirtual.com/liberty) as normal.
Can I still request a Book Voucher?
Yes. You can request a book voucher by emailing LUOStudentAccounts@liberty.edu. Please be sure to include your Student ID Number and requested amount.
Is there still a Military Book Voucher?
Because all materials are provided for LUO Undergraduate students taking Undergraduate courses, the Military Book Voucher is no longer being offered.
Do I need to cover any required materials at all?
All required course materials will be provided at no cost to LUO Undergraduate students. However, some programs may require students to access materials or assessments that are not included in the course materials. Those will be available for purchase through Barnes & Noble College or they will be covered by a separate course fee.
Why do I see a course fee and course fee waiver on my student account?
LUO Undergraduate students will see a Course Fee on their student account, but you will also see a waiver to remove that course fee from your account. LUO Graduate and Residential students will not receive a waiver for that fee.
