Pre-Occupational Therapy Club
Club Mission Statement
The Pre-Occupational Therapy Club exists to help undergraduate students gain acceptance into graduate school and excel in their chosen area of study. We strive to not only educate Liberty students about the field of Occupational Therapy, but also the city of Lynchburg through community service.
What To Expect as a Member
The Pre-OT Club meets once a month with a variety of speakers. These speakers range from local occupational therapists, certified occupational therapists, GRE instructors, to graduate school admissions counselors. You will gain a thorough understanding of what occupational therapy is, as well as the myriad of settings it can be used in (pediatrics, geriatrics, hospitals, home health, mental health, out-patient, hand therapy, aquatic therapy, etc.) Our speakers are an incredible asset as many of our students end up shadowing them in their chosen setting. You will also gain extensive knowledge of how to prepare yourself for applying to graduate schools and all that it entails (GRE exam, prerequisites, OTCAS.)
Club Accomplishments
Given SGA’s “New Club of the Year” award; created over 35 occupational therapy toys for a local rehab center; had a variety of speakers come in to talk about their OT profession as well as a graduate college representative and a director of a medical missions organization!
Additional Club Information
Our club is available to anyone remotely interested in what Occupational Therapy is all about! Please feel free to come check it out, even if you don’t have a clue what it is!
