Military Insider: Fall 2022 Edition

Welcome Back!

From the Desk of the Veterans Center Supervisor

  • Welcome back from the Veterans Center Supervisor, Caleb Berkland. I pray that all of our students have had a restful and enjoyable summer. Here at the Office of Military Affairs we are excited to welcome back our returning students this semester and to meet all of our new ones. My door is always open should you have any questions about military education benefits. Our VetSuccess counselor, Lora Nichols, will be returning this semester as well and will be available to meet with students in person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If you are looking for community here on campus, ask us about our student groups and events:

    • Student Veterans Association
Keeping with the traditions and culture of Liberty University’s passion for Christian service, the Liberty University Student Veterans Association (SVA) embraces the motto Servus Semper or Serve Always. It is our mission to serve veterans within the community while fostering a culture of camaraderie, mentorship and educational success among veterans on campus. The Student Veterans Association is open to student veterans who have served honorably in the U.S. Armed Services.
    • Students Behind our Military
The mission of Students Behind our Military is to create awareness and appreciation for our military and support for service members The organization’s primary activity is sending care packages overseas and assisting the Office of Military Affairs with events such as Military Family Fun Day, and Military Appreciation Month, in addition to other various community and campus events throughout the semester.

As you acclimate to your courses and all the changes on campus, please visit our Veterans Center on the 2nd floor of the Montview Student Union for coffee and fellowship.
Sincerely,
Caleb Berkland, Veterans Center Supervisor
