Military Emphasis Week (MEW)

Military Emphasis Week 2019

Military Emphasis Week (MEW) raises awareness and appreciation for those who have served and are serving in the United States military.  Our founder, the late Dr. Jerry Falwell, led Liberty University by example, demonstrating the consistency of Christianity, patriotism, and love of country. Military Emphasis Week seeks to carry on this legacy.

Once a one-day event on campus, Military Emphasis Week has been expanded to a week-long celebration in order to give greater visibility, support and recognition to our military and veterans. Events are planned throughout campus during this week to show appreciation for the men and women who have served and are serving this great nation.

Schedule of Events: Nov. 9-16

Use the below quick links to jump to a specific event in the schedule:

#HonorThem on Yammer

We invite the Liberty community to share about the veterans in their lives on Yammer using the hashtag #HonorThem. We’ll be monitoring all of the stories shared and will select special highlights to share on the Military Affairs FacebookTwitter, and Instagram networks all throughout Military Emphasis Week. Take this opportunity to help us recognize the service of your favorite veterans!

How to participate:

  • Make a post anywhere on Yammer using hashtag #HonorThem to share about your favorite veteran. Include a photo or video if desired.
  • Visit the #HonorThem stream in Yammer to see all of the stories being shared by your fellow students. Like, comment, and share these stories to spread awareness. Let’s fill Yammer with stories of the heroes we know and love!
  • During Military Emphasis Week, Nov. 9-16, the Office of Military Affairs will share selected stories from Yammer on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram to raise awareness and provide opportunities for those outside of the Liberty community to #HonorThem.
