Annual Fashion Show

SELAH: Reflecting a Legacy of Fashion

Planning for the 20th Annual Liberty University Family & Consumer Sciences Department Fashion Show is well underway, and the show will be held in the School of Music Concert Hall on May 2, 2026 at 8 pm. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets will be available in early April 2026.

The Designer’s Launch event was held in the Grand Lobby of DeMoss Hall 2210 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025. This event revealed the theme of the fashion show. All undergraduate residential potential student designers were invited to attend, and formal dress was encouraged. Attendees interested in showcasing creativity, vision, and unique style on the runway participated.

Model Casting was held on Tuesday and Thursday, September 23 and 25, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. in DeMoss Hall 1284. Undergraduate students interested in trying out as a model for the fashion show were invited to attend either night. No experience was necessary. The dress code for women was a black shirt, black jeans/pants, and heels. For men, a black shirt, black jeans, and sneakers were required.

As this is an educational event, the show is initiated and directed by a Fashion Student Leadership team chosen through an application process. Garments are designed and constructed primarily by LU Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising students and modeled by LU students. This event takes nine months of planning and garment construction by our students. Preparation workshops include a Designerโ€™s Launch where the theme of this yearโ€™s show is revealed, Model Casting events where potential student models strike a pose in the hopes of being chosen to wear a designerโ€™s garment, Designer Progress Checks where garment fit and construction are evaluated, Model Rehearsals where the runway walk is perfected, and finally, the Dress Rehearsal before the night of the show.

Garments are judged by professionals in the fashion industry and awards will be given to various winners. The purpose of the show is to provide real-world design experience and portfolio pieces that will be vital for employment in the fashion industry.
