Dr. David Pettus teaches Old Testament and Hebrew courses at the Rawlings School of Divinity.  He has been in teaching and administration in Christian higher education for several decades.  Before coming to teach at Liberty in 2005, he taught Old Testament courses at The Criswell College in Dallas Texas for almost nine years.  Professor Pettus has published a number of book reviews in theological journals, contributed articles to several books/dictionaries and presented papers at regional/national meetings of several theological societies.

In addition to exercising his teaching gift in the training of college students, Dr. Pettus has served with Marketplace Ministries, an international ministry providing evangelical chaplains to the corporate world, as a frontline chaplain and director of its Central Texas Division. He has also ministered in the local church setting as a small church pastor, on church staff and in pulpit supply.

Since 2006, Dr. Pettus has been the bible teacher for the "Crossroads Adult Bible Community Class" at Thomas Road Baptist Church.  He and his wife, Vickie, are officially empty nesters and are greatly enjoying their grandparenting years.
