Admissions Test for BSN Applicants

All applicants to Liberty’s BSN Program are required to take the HESI Admissions Assessment (A2) Test. The assessment test is a timed test, lasting approximately 4 hours, and evaluates vocabulary, general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, biology, and math. The test is electronic and students will take the test on Liberty’s Testing Services computers.

Testing is in the LU Testing Center at the following times during test dates:

  • 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Test Registration

To complete registration for the HESI A2 test, you must complete both Step 1 & Step 2 found below:

  • Step 1 – Purchase HESI A2 test
    • View instructions to purchase the HESI A2 test
    • The purchase fee is $54
  • Step 2 – Reserve your seat to take the HESI A2 test on campus at Liberty’s Testing Services. You will select your preferred date and time.
    Notify Testing Services if you sign up for a test and need to change the time or the date.
    • Note: Google Chrome has released an update that causes a problem with the Testing Center registration. Please use another browser (Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, etc) when registering with the Testing Center.
    • There is a $50 fee paid to Testing Services for administering the test and using their laptops. There are no refunds. Only register for the test you intend to take.
    • Testing Services is located in DeMoss Hall, Room 1036 (View Campus Map)
    • Sign up to take the test early and only register for one test. You will be able to register for another if needed. The pass rate is 75%.

If you have an approved disability by the Office of Disability Accommodation Support, you must take the A2 test during the 9:00 a.m. test time. 


What You Will Need To Bring

  • Elsevier username and password
  • Photo ID (e.g., Liberty ID, Driver’s License, Passport)

Test-Taking Tips

  • Take five deep, slow breaths when feeling anxious
  • Prepare the night before
  • Plan appropriate attire if you get hot or cold easily
  • Allow plenty of time to arrive at Testing Services
  • Stay positive
