IT Marketplace - Recommended Computer Specifications & Policies
The most important technology that you will need at Liberty is a computer. Liberty’s IT Marketplace offers several kinds of computers depending on what you want and need for your classes. Liberty has partnered with Dell, Lenovo, and Apple to offer students discounts on computers from all three manufacturers.
Recommended Hardware Specifications
Students are also able to bring their own computers from home to use on Liberty’s campus. If you will be bringing your own computer, we recommend the following hardware specifications so that you can comfortably run multiple applications as well as take full advantage of Liberty’s network:
- Processor: Intel i-Series (i3, i5, i7) or equivalent
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Hard Drive: 128GB or higher
- Video: Integrated or Dedicated graphics card
- Wireless Card:
- IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WLAN NIC
- 2.4 GHz/5GHz Dual Band
- 2x2 300 Mbps. (20/40MHz)

Liberty has also partnered with multiple software vendors to offer students great discounts on some of the software that they need for their computers, too. The Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Access, OneNote, etc.) may be available for currently enrolled students. You can find it here. The IT Marketplace has much of the software that is required by individual classes in a variety of majors as well.
Warranty & Repair Information
All recommended Lenovo bundles purchased through the IT Marketplace come with the option to purchase a manufacturer's warranty (valid up to 4 years) and are eligible for on-campus service and repair at the IT HelpDesk for the entirety of their warranty. All Apple computer purchase has the option of choosing no warranty or 3-year manufacturer's warranty that is eligible for on-campus service and repair at the IT HelpDesk for the entirety of their warranty. Dell machines purchased online or in-store are eligible for Dell’s extended manufacturer’s warranty and accidental coverage.
The IT HelpDesk has also made available 2-year and 4-year warranties through Safeware for Apple and Dell devices purchased in-store or online. By Partnering with Safeware, students receive accidental coverage, protection from normal wear and tear, and even theft protection on devices set up with Safeware coverage.
We are also able to perform certain hardware & software repairs on Dell, Lenovo and Apple laptops that were not purchased through Liberty’s IT Marketplace, but this service depends on the type of warranty, damage, and other factors.
Software Installation Assistance
All customers who purchase software through the IT Marketplace can receive installation assistance by Liberty University's IT HelpDesk for free. You can call, stop in, or visit the HelpDesk website for free IT assistance.

Apple & Dell
In-Store Return Policy
Apple products may be returned within 14 days of purchase if in the original sealed package (unopened) and with original store receipt. (Products must be of the current version or model.)
Opened Apple products are not returnable in store. Once a device is no longer in its seal, it will not be eligible for refund or replacement.
Defective products will be handled in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty. Products inoperable upon first use will be eligible for repair under warranty within the Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) located next to the IT Marketplace.
Software purchased through the IT Marketplace (not Kivuto) may be returned within 14 days of purchase if in the original sealed package (unopened) and with original store receipt. Opened software will only be eligible to be exchanged with the same software. Downloadable software is exempt from this policy, and will not be eligible for returns or exchanges.
A restocking fee of at least 15% may apply to returns accepted outside the above guidelines. All returns are subject to approval by the IT Marketplace management staff. Depending on the specific product, other policies may apply.
