Student Work

Student Employment
Part-time jobs are available on and off-campus for students who seek to obtain employment through the Federal Work-Study program or other student employment. You must be 18 years or older to be eligible for employment.
There are limited openings for non-Work Study students which include the dining hall and any religion department.
Student workers typically will not be permitted to work remotely, the exception to this general policy would be graduate research students who are approved for remote work and graduate students performing tutoring services. Students working remotely must be approved by Human Resources.
Federal Work Study
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program that awards up to $5,000 per academic year (Fall/Spring) based on need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Federal Work-Study is not a scholarship, but a chance to earn money for college. Please note, that Liberty University does not guarantee that any student who qualifies for the Federal Work-Study Program will be given a job. Qualified Work Study students will usually fill most open positions.
Positions
The program provides part-time on and off-campus jobs for qualifying undergraduate resident students and can be requested by graduate and online students. There are a select few off-campus locations which are eligible for the Work Study Program.
The start and end dates for all positions are determined by the specific position and the hiring department.
Student workers are permitted to work two student worker positions as long as they don’t exceed 29 hours total. Typically, federal work-study student workers work no more than 20 hours per week.
Payment
Students are paid every two weeks and are strongly urged to enroll in direct deposit. Once your I-9 section 2 is completed when you present your documents to HR, you will set up your payment elections in Workday. Students also have the option of having a portion of their check deducted and applied to their student account if desired.

Qualifications
Work Study is determined by the FAFSA, which every student intending to use federal or Liberty aid is required to complete. The eligibility is determined by the Student Aid Index (SAI). If you are eligible for work study, you should have received a financial aid offer stating such. Work Study eligibility can also be seen in your ASIST account under the Financial Aid tab by choosing “Award for Aid Year” and then “Award Overview.” Visit Financial Aid for more Federal Work Study information.
If you have not yet received your FWS letter of approval, you are still welcome to apply to any student positions. However, it is encouraged that once the letter is received, to follow up with the department to confirm your eligibility.
