Internships

Gain Real-World Experience

Internships are an opportunity for students to attain real-world experience in their discipline. Time spent in the field among seasoned professionals enables students to demonstrate their mastery of classroom theory and expand their skillset with hands-on technical experience and problem-solving.

This opportunity for active learning is especially important in the highly technical fields of engineering and computer science. This experience will give you a competitive edge in the job market upon graduation.

Students have interned and found postgraduate employment in companies such as:

  • AMTI
  • Apple Computer
  • Areva
  • Babcox & Wilcox
  • Boeing
  • Catalyst
  • Delta Star
  • Disney
  • Dominion Power
  • Genworth
  • Georgia Pacific
  • Harris
  • iDirect
  • Innovative Wireless Technologies
  • John Deere
  • Lockheed Martin
  • Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory
  • NASA
  • National Ground Intelligence Center for the U.S. Army
  • Procter & Gamble
  • Red Hat
  • Volvo

As a Liberty engineering student, you will be encouraged to pursue a summer engineering internship every summer beginning after your freshman year. Exploring various types of internships, at small companies, large companies, oversea companies, and start-up companies will help you determine what type of company is the best fit for you before graduation. To connect students with internship opportunities we work closely with the Career Center which provides personal career coaching, networking, career fairs, and a job/internship board via Handshake.

Because our alumni have represented Liberty University School of Engineering so well, it is very common to have companies seek our students because of the stellar reputation Liberty engineering graduates have in the engineering industry.

Internships can also be applied toward fulfilling technical elective credits. To begin the process, please contact your CASAS Advisor to determine your eligibility, and schedule an appointment with the Engineering Internship Coordinator, Valda Rowe at vrowe2@liberty.edu.

An internship provides opportunities to hone your skills, an experience that will inform future career decisions, and connections that will provide future networking opportunities. You’ll get the benefits of industry-specific experience under the supervision of both professional and academic mentors.

Additional Job Opportunities
