April McWilliams
Biography
April McWilliams is the Lighting Manager for the Department of Theatre and Dance, where she oversees production operations and supports the artistic and technical development of student productions. Her professional credits include work with the Colorado Film Commission, the MLB Commissioner’s Party, and T.A.P.S. Benefit Concerts.
April regularly designs lighting for the department. Her favorite design credits include And Then There Were None, Bloodroot, The Ballad of Clinch Mountain, Silent Sky, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Doubt, and Leaving Iowa. Favorite productions she has programmed include Curtains, Oliver!, Cinderella, and Titanic. She has also enjoyed working on numerous productions, including Bright Star, Newsies, 42nd Street, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).
Throughout her career, April has pursued extensive professional development, including design master classes; training in architectural and spotlight Vectorworks; truss inspection and usage certification; Forces and Load Calculations training; and certification in GrandMA2 programming and operation. Her work has been recognized through multiple honors, including a Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Award for Lighting Design for And Then There Were None, as well as KCACTF recognition for Bloodroot and The Ballad of Clinch Mountain.
Outside the theater, April enjoys spending time with her family, tending her garden, and cultivating her English roses alongside a variety of flowers and vegetables. She is also passionate about baking and enjoys hiking and walking with her husband and their dog, Lady Poppy.
