Tell the Stories That Shape Our Culture

Develop your craft and sharpen your skills

Gain the hands-on theatrical experience you need through our academic productions and even jump-start your career with the opportunity to earn professional credits through our very own Alluvion Stage Company. Here, you can also benefit from our tradition of original works— integrated from start to finish which can offer you a comprehensive stage experience.

Taught from a Christian worldview, classes in Liberty’s Theatre Arts Department emphasize storytelling and the development of skills required for employment in the industry.

Our department brings theatre to the community through our season performances and summer camps for high school, middle school and elementary school students.

Choose from a BFA in Musical Theatre, a BFA in Acting, a B.A. or B.S. in Theatre Arts. And now, any major can add on a minor in Dance and Theatre Arts.

A Christian Theatre Arts Experience

Learn from faculty members who embrace their Christian faith and are active professionals specializing in many areas such as acting, voice, songwriting, directing, dance, choreography, stage movement, stage combat, lighting, design, drama ministry, and theater history. Our programs are built around teaching the art of theatre in order to impact the culture for Christ.

Support our Theatre Arts Students: Give to the Tower Club

Annual membership in the Tower Club provides scholarships to any Christ-following young artist who wants to study theatre at Liberty University. We are looking for donors to join us in our second year to continue to train champions for Christ in the world of the arts. As a supporter of the Tower Club, you will not only impact our students with their education at Liberty, but we trust this will have an effect for years to come.

A gift to the Tower Club Scholarship Fund will help provide financial assistance to full-time students and degree candidates within the Department of Theatre Arts. As a Tower Club supporter, you will receive membership benefits based upon your level of giving.

“Our Tower Club membership has been one of the most satisfying elements of our time on Liberty Mountain. The Lord has a way of attracting the highest caliber of student talent to this campus, and Tower Club members play a significant role in helping these students live God’s dream for their lives. We love the opportunity to watch these professional-level performers glorify God on stage, but the added joy of providing resources to equip them for their craft is a priceless benefit we would not want to miss.”

What Our Alumni Say

Tatum Sheppard

Getting my education with a biblical worldview was critical in maturing me and teaching me to find my identity in Christ and not in the things that I do….I was so grateful to graduate from a college that taught me not only what I needed to know to succeed in my career but also how I was going to succeed as a person and as a Christian.

Rachel Day

I am just struck by the remarkable level of excellence that the Liberty University Department of Theatre Arts demands, teaches, and instills in their graduates. I would definitely say that everything that I learned while spending time at LU has served me really well and has put me in a very competitive position.

Lindsley Register

My professors helped me lay a foundation of proper acting technique, approach, and habits so that when the opportunities came to me, I was ready. Having the film school close by was another huge help because I was able to get on-screen experience and footage for a demo reel before I graduated. These were invaluable head starts.

HOLDING ON TO TANGIER is a new student-written original work by the 2023 Writing Project based on the history of Tangier Island, Virginia. A small island village that lives isolated from the rest of Virginia, it holds onto its beauty and culture with little interference from the outside. Even severe secrets remain hidden forever from the outside world.
