Theatre Arts: Tell the Stories That Shape Our Culture

Develop your craft and sharpen your skills as you prepare for a career in theatre arts.

Gain the hands-on theatrical experience you need through our academic productions and even jump-start your career with the opportunity to earn professional credits through our very own Alluvion Stage Company. Here, you can also benefit from our tradition of original works— integrated from start to finish which can offer you a comprehensive stage experience.

Taught from a Christian worldview, classes in Liberty’s Theatre Arts Department emphasize storytelling and the development of skills required for employment in the industry.

Choose from a BFA in Musical Theatre, a BFA in Acting, a BA or BS in Theatre Arts. And now, any major can add on a minor in Dance and Theatre Arts.

A Christian Theatre Arts Experience

Learn from faculty members who embrace their Christian faith and are active professionals specializing in many areas such as acting, voice, songwriting, directing, dance, choreography, stage movement, stage combat, lighting, design, drama ministry, and theater history. Besides Mark Twain, some of Ryan`s favorite roles include Prospero in The Tempest; Brutus in Julius Caesar; Mr. Wormwood in Matilda; Mortimer in The Fantasticks; Balin in The Hobbit; Eddie in Fool For Love; Jaxton in The Thanksgiving Play; Arnold in The Boys Next Door, and Bob Cratchit or Jacob Marley or Old Joe or the Ghost of Christmas Present, or a myriad of other Dickensian characters from nine seasons working with Virginia Stage Company`s A Christmas Carol.

The best role he has ever gotten is that of Husband to his very kind and supportive wife Sonja.

Guest Actor
Ben is thrilled to be coming back to Alluvion! Chicago: The House Theatre of Chicago, Shattered Globe. Regional: Alluvion Stage Company, Tecumseh! Outdoor Drama, Wolfbane Productions. After this he`ll be flying back to Chicago to be a part of IO Theatre`s Scholarship Program, where he`ll be working with an ensemble of six over the next year to learn and perform longform improv. When not working on something theatre related, you can find him reading, playing the guitar and harmonica, throwing pottery, spinning poi, or trying to meet an absurd amount of new people in the hopes of making a friend with a boat. @benstephenperry
