Biography
Karl Winters serves as an Assistant Professor of Aeronautics at Liberty University. He began flying in 2011 and earned his pilot certifications while attending Purdue University, where he also began his career as a flight instructor. After graduating from Purdue, he worked for Gleim Aviation as a Technical Editor and contributed to Gleim’s line of pilot training books, online resources, and other products. He came to Liberty in 2019 and taught students in all of Liberty’s flight courses. In his current role, his focus is on developing flight students’ aeronautical knowledge in the pilot ground courses and exposing students to advanced operational techniques in the ALSIM ALX jet simulator.

Performance differences between collegiate and non-collegiate flight training, aeronautical decision-making (ADM) training, and development. Error analysis in flight training, human factors of flight training, and the effectiveness of simulators in flight training.
