Professor Cihak enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1981 and served as a Pararescueman for eight-years.  After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Education, he was commissioned through the Officer Training School in 1990.  He continued to serve in the U.S. Air Force for over 33 years as a B-52G, B-52H, B-1B, B-2A pilot, aircraft commander, mission commander, and instructor pilot.  Professor Cihak also served in a variety of operational, staff, and command roles including service in the NATO Air Operations Center in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Chief of Strategy and Chief of Combat Operations in the U.S. Air Forces Southern Combined Air and Space Operations Center, and Director of Combat Plans in the U.S. Air Force Central Command; Chief of Strategy Pacific Air Forces, culminating in service as the Vice Commander, Pacific Air Operations Center.  In July 2015, he joined the Liberty University School of Aeronautics as the Director of Flight Operations.  Professor Cihak also serves as a residential aeronautics Adjunct Professor as well as the Academic Advisor for the Liberty University Flight Team and Women’s Air Race Classic Flight Team.
