Transfer Policies School of Law

General Transfer Policies (applies to JM and LLM):

  • Accreditation: Regionally or Nationally Accredited Institution, approved through the Department of Education
  • Grade:  B- or higher.  Grades of P are eligible to transfer as long as the grading system at the transfer institution states that P is equivalent to B- or better.
  • Equivalency: Similar in content and scope of courses offered at Liberty University.  Taken from a graduate program in a closely related field
  • Non-Transferrable Courses: Thesis, Dissertation, Comprehensive Exam, Practicum, and Internship courses are not able to be fulfilled by transfer credit.  Additional courses are listed below by program
  • Hours: 3 semester hours (4.5 quarter hours) per course
  • Age Limit: 10 years for graduate programs unless otherwise stated
  • Credit Limit: Most programs allow a maximum of 50% of the program hours to be transferred; exceptions are listed below and at the bottom of the first page of the DCP.  Credit from a conferred Liberty University degree is counted towards transfer hours

Master of Laws in International Legal Studies

Admissions Requirement The following courses are non-transferable:

  • JURI 600 (Foundations of Law)
  • JURI 690 (Legal Research and Writing I – Capstone)
  • JURI 695 (Legal Research and Writing II – Capstone)
