Stanley Harris, B.A, M.M., Ed. S., D.M.E, Ph.D.

Biography

Dr. Harris brings nearly 18 years of expertise in music education, having taught students from Pre-K through 12th grade across multiple states, including Virginia, South Carolina, and Maine. His extensive experience covers diverse subject areas such as general music, band, orchestra, chorus, music history, and handbells. Under his direction, middle and high school ensembles have consistently achieved recognition in local, state, regional, and national competitions. 

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Harris served as a music and worship leader for seven years, during which time he directed orchestra and choir groups for performances with notable artists like DC Washington and David Phelps, and accompanied Nicol Sponberg (formerly of Selah) on piano. He has also performed in various countries, including Costa Rica and Australia, on musical and mission teams. Dr. Harris actively contributes to the field through his involvement with the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA), the Home Educators Association of Virginia (HEAV), and the National Association of Music Educators (NAfME). His research interests focus on improving rural music education, professional development for teachers, and music instruction in special education.
