Dr. Hanna Byrd is an Online Instructional Mentor and Assistant Professor of Worship at Liberty University’s School of Music. Since 2012, she has taught online courses and contributed as a subject matter expert in worship studies. A former member of Sounds of Liberty, she led worship in over 300 venues across 27 states and currently serves as a worship leader at Blue Ridge Community Church in Forest, VA.

Dr. Byrd holds a B.S. in Psychology, M.A. in Counseling, a Master’s Certificate in Global Studies, and a D.W.S. in Pastoral Counseling—all from Liberty University. Her award-winning doctoral research explored the impact of worship lyrics on spiritual growth. In 2025, she received Liberty’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching.

She lives in Lynchburg, VA with her husband and their two lively young children.
