Biography

Dr. Gabriel Miller serves as Professor of Music Theory and Worship at Liberty University, where he also oversees the residential graduate programs in music. He concurrently serves as worship pastor and teaching elder at All Peoples Church in Lynchburg. Dr. Miller previously served on the faculties of Louisiana Christian University and the University of Louisiana. 

Dr. Miller’s primary scholarly contributions to the field of music theory center on Hugo Riemann’s function theory. He has given papers at the University of Minnesota, the Cincinnati CCM, and Yale University, as well as various regional theory conferences. He also co-authored the music theory textbooks used at LU, and he is the author of five other books in the field of worship and Christian devotion. He has written many original worship songs, and he has produced two live worship albums. 

Dr. Miller serves alongside his wife, fellow SOM faculty member, Dr. Samantha Miller. They have two sons, Bowden and Jude.
