John Hugo

Biography
John Hugo, Professor of Vocal Music and Chair of the Department of Ensembles and General Music. He holds a D.M.A. in Choral Music and a Master of Vocal Performance from Arizona State, and an M.M. in Choral Conducting from New England Conservatory. He currently teaches courses in Music History, American Music History, Choral Conducting, Private Voice; he is the director of Concert Choir.
He has been active in ACDA, NATS, NAfME, and other professional associations. Dr. Hugo serves as the director of the Roanoke Symphony Chorus. He participates as tenor soloist with the Bellezza Chamber Ensemble. He has served on the music faculty since the fall of 1988. He is a published author and composer of choral and vocal music, and serves as an adjudicator for musical organizations in Virginia.
