Liberty University School of Law welcomes the return of Rebecca Kiessling to speak at the Speakers’ Forum on Wednesday, September 22, at 3:00 pm in the law school’s Supreme Courtroom. This event is co-sponsored by Liberty University’s Helms School of Government and the Liberty Counsel Student Organization.

Ms. Kiessling is a noted pro-life attorney and author who, at the age of 18, learned she had been conceived through an assault at knifepoint by a serial rapist. Through investigations she discovered that her birth mother twice sought the services of back-alley abortionists, but did not abort her after realizing the brutality of abortion and the fact it was illegal in the state of Michigan (at that time). Ms. Kiessling was given up for adoption shortly after her birth.

Through her story, Ms. Kiessling has had the opportunity to present the case for life in countless courtrooms, churches, conferences, and schools throughout the nation. She tells her audiences that one of the greatest things she has learned is that the rapist is NOT the creator. “My value and identity are not established as a Œproduct of rape,’ but as a child of God,” shares Kiessling. She said, “I know that there is no stigma in being adopted, but we are told in the New Testament that it is in the spirit of adoption that we are called to be God’s children through Christ our Lord. So He must have thought pretty highly of adoption to use that as a picture of His love for us!”

Ms. Kiessling has defended pre-born human life in numerous high profile cases, including the frozen embryo case in Michigan – the third of its kind in the U.S. Kiessling said, “I’m alive today solely because my life was legally protected in Michigan at the time I was developing in the uterus. Michigan voters and legislators who were 100% pro-life – no exceptions/no compromise – are my heroes. I owe my life to them and that is why I, in turn, do the same for others.”

Her story has been featured in magazines such as Glamour and Marie Claire, and in countless television programs including Good Morning America, CNN’s Talk Back Live, and CBN’s The 700 Club. She has been named one of Feminists for Life’s “Remarkable Pro-Life Women.” Her story has been published in Heritage House’s brochure “Conceived in Rape: A Story of Hope.”
