Meet the Team: Audra Kopp

Audra Weatherly
Audra Kopp, Career Coach for School of Behavioral Sciences

Audra Kopp is a natural career coach. Her passion for the job stems from her time as a student worker in Career Services, when she received encouragement from the career coaches. This led her to follow in their footsteps by listening to and caring for other students looking for help in the job field. Being a career coach allows Audra the opportunity to combine her desire to inspire others with her educational background of a BS in Psychology and Marriage and Family counseling.

Audra believes that “My responsibilities, as a Career Coach, falls into helping people learn how to market themselves as college-level professionals within the School of Behavioral Sciences.”

When Audra meets with students, she takes time to get to know them as an individual. She understands that everyone has a story and that it plays an important role in determining where they want to go in life. Many students come to Audra seeking practical advice on what to do next. She strives to guide them as best she can in determining their goals.

“I would say it’s 50/50 for my majors, 50% resume help and then 50% career exploration so like deciding what they want to do with their degree.”

Her Career Tips

At Career Services, the coaches recognize that college is not just about taking classes to graduate but taking steps to achieve a dream. Audra is able to help her students see beyond the here and now to shape a better future. Many students have a hard time simply figuring out where to begin. Audra offers some practical advice for this: “Job search first, figure out what job you want and then look at the minimum qualifications.”

Students frequently wonder when they should start taking advantage of all that Career Services has to offer. According to Audra, the time is now! Freshmen have many dreams, and Audra loves listening to their stories to help them get a good start. For Seniors, Audra feels it is never too late to come to the Career Center. The coaches are willing to help out at any time! As Audra advises: “Get started now because it’s going to make your life so much easier cause you’re not having to stress and cram everything in.”

Audra understands that her position at Career Services has been given to her by the Lord. Her faith is what guides her through everything she does, and her job is no exception. Audra’s passion for her role is evident, even as she maintains a busy schedule. She recognizes that God has equipped her to serve students in this season. “The Lord gives everybody a unique set of skills and gifts, and I feel that it is my job to help them understand those skills and those gifts that are unique to them and how they can market them so that ultimately they can glorify the Lord.”
