You’re Missing the Biggest Career Fair of the Year

The all-majors career fair is a gathering of representatives from a variety of industries. Students from all majors can showcase their skills, learn, and talk to these representatives with the hope of getting an internship or job. This gives students a larger pool of opportunities to explore that aren’t showcased in the individual major career fairs.

The fair takes place on Tuesday, October 5th from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. It will be located in the LaHaye Multipurpose Center of Green Hall.

Getting Prepared

“Preparation is the key.  I encourage students to make as many appointments with me well before the date of the fair.  The more a student prepares and goes over their elevator pitch again and again, the less nervous they become.” – Lloyd Pemberton.

Lloyd shares that when speaking to employers they want to see students who show initiative in doing prior research of their organizations and know what they can offer to the organization.

“Employers take notice of students who have some familiarity with what their organization is all about and how the student can add value to further their company’s vision.” – Lloyd Pemberton

Career Coach Debra Saucier seconds this advice detailing that just because a student doesn’t have experience in the field doesn’t mean they have to sound inexperienced about the employers they are seeking out.

“Students need to research the employers that will be at any career event. Prioritize employers that they are most interested in and do extended research on those organizations and include the industries they represent.” – Debra Saucier.
