Biography

Katie currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Flight Science. She grew up in North Carolina and was exposed to aviation through her mother’s job with the National Guard. She was able to sit in the cockpit of a C-130 and became fascinated with the many buttons and how one person could know each function. Combined with her love for travel, this experience is when she decided to become a pilot. Soon after, Katie attended Liberty University, where she completed her flight training. As a flight instructor, her passion for teaching became more prevalent. During her time at LUSOA, Katie has served in many roles. She started as a student worker at dispatch, moving on to a flight instructor, then managing High School programs, to her previous role as an Associate Director of Flight training, managing the Flight Instructor courses. Along with teaching many flight ground courses, Katie also serves as the Faculty Advisor for the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Flight Team.
