On June 21, Liberty University and Liberty University School of Law will welcome Summit Ministries and Summit’s two-week worldview conference which challenges high school students to examine their worldviews, evaluate those views as they pertain to the current post-Christian culture, and encourage them to respond.
Students who attend Summit’s program will have the opportunity to learn from and engage with national experts delving into significant issues such as: post modernism, politics, Christianity in culture, the reliability of Scripture, creation vs. evolution, and others. Each year Summit offers the attendees the opportunity to learn from distinguished speakers including Mathew D. Staver, Dean and Professor of Law at Liberty University School of Law, Dr. Ergun Caner, President of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate School, and Dr. Gary Habermas, an expert on apologetics.
In addition to hosting the 2009 Summit Ministries conference on the campus of Liberty University, the Liberty University School of Law is pleased to announce the creation “The Future Generation – Summit Ministries Scholarship,” which will be awarded annually to outstanding graduates of Summit Ministries annual conference for students to attend Liberty University School of Law. This scholarship will be awarded to selected students who attend the conference, meet the full admissions standards including competitive Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score, have achieved the requisite Grade Point Average (GPA), and fully articulate their vision and sense of calling for studying law.
Commenting on the conference, Staver, who is also the Founder of Liberty Counsel, said, “With proponents of moral relativism and postmodernism taking our educational system hostage, it is encouraging to know that organizations like Summit Ministries are making a positive difference by equipping a new generation to think biblically. As the largest and fastest-growing evangelical university in the world with a premier law school, Liberty University is pleased to partner with Summit Ministries to provide a new scholarship program in an effort to prepare this generation of young people to apply a Christian worldview to achieve desperately needed cultural reform.”
Summit Ministries, based near Colorado Springs, Colorado, aspires to educate and equip the Christian youth of today with practical knowledge and tools necessary to articulate a firm understanding of a Christian worldview and stand firm in their faith. The conference will take place June 21 – July 3. For more information on this conference visit www.summit.org.
