Sean B. Cunningham, partner at the Washington, D.C. office of Hunton & Williams, and Dana D. McDaniel, partner at the Richmond office of Spotts Fain, are featured guests for the second Speakers’ Forum of 2006 at Liberty University School of Law. The presentation will start at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, February 17 in the Student Services Center at the law school. In its second year, the speakers’ series is designed to introduce law students to accomplished leaders who serve in a variety of legal positions. The law school welcomes members of the university and legal community to Speakers’ Forum events.
Sean B. Cunningham
Mr. Cunningham’s practice focuses on the federal legislative and regulatory matters concerning electric power and energy policy. His professional experience includes serving as Counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, serving as lead negotiator of the electric power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy provisions of proposed legislation adopted by House and Senate conferees in 2003, and representing a Fortune 500 electric utility before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Mr. Cunningham earned his Juris Doctorate from University of Texas in 1997, his M.A. from Catholic University of America in 1992, and his undergraduate degree from University of Virginia in 1989. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and serves as co-chairman of the energy subcommittee of the Administrative Law Practice Group, Federalist Society.
Dana D. McDaniel
As a commercial litigator, Mr. McDaniel focuses on intellectual property and technology issues cases. In courts throughout the United States he has represented clients in many patent, trademark and copyright infringement, and business dispute cases. Recently, he began a Mediation Practice to serve as a mediator in business disputes involving intellectual property and technology issues. After being named as Virginia’s “Top Information Technology/Intellectual Property Lawyer” by Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite survey in December 2000, Mr. McDaniel has continued to be listed among the Legal Elite each year.
Mr. McDaniel earned his Juris Doctorate from the College of William and Mary, Marshall–Wythe School of Law in 1985 and his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech University in 1977. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the American and Virginia Bar Associations, the ABA Intellectual Property Law Section, for which he chaired and co-chaired the Young Lawyers Section from 1996 to 1998. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Children, Incorporated, a Richmond based international children’s aid organization.
