Liberty University School of Law’s annual National Government Contracts and Programs Negotiation Tournament, will begin Friday, January 28, and is sponsored by the law school’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Board. Final rounds will be held on Saturday, January 29.
Twelve teams from seven different schools will participate: University of California Hastings College of the Law (returning school), University of Maryland School of Law (returning school), Stetson University College of Law, University of North Carolina School of Law, Southwestern Law School, Texas Wesleyan School of Law, and Regent University School of Law (returning school).
Professor Joel Hesch, faculty advisor to Liberty’s ADR/Negotiations Board commented, “Given our strong negotiation program and success at winning competitions, law schools from across the country want to compete at the tournament we are hosting. Last year we were told that our competition was one of the best in the nation.”
This competition marks the second national negotiation tournament that Liberty University School of Law has hosted, as well as, the only negotiations tournament in the country focusing on government contracts and programs.
Liberty’s law school has successfully competed at the national level, having won regional negotiation tournaments and placed among the top ten of all negotiations teams nationally. For this specific tournament, Liberty will not compete unless an invited team is unable to participate.
Liberty University School of Law is the only law school in the nation to qualify two teams in the American Bar Association Law Student Division Negotiation Competition three years in a row, as well as capture the Regional Championship, for three years running, taking first place and second or third place. “Our negotiation teams have ranked high both regionally and nationally, and the depth of talent is very impressive,” concluded Mathew D. Staver, Dean of Liberty University School of Law.
