Liberty Law launched its new "Supreme Court Review" on September 11, 2018, in the law school's Supreme Courtroom.
In this event, a panel of Liberty Law faculty members discussed and debated some of the most important cases from the recent Supreme Court term.
This year’s panel consisted of the following faculty and cases:
Jeff Tuomala – Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees
Joe Martins – National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra
Rena Lindevaldsen – Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission
Tory Lucas – Trump v. Hawaii
Tim Todd – South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. (and moderator)
According to Tim Todd, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the goal of the program is to spark and encourage intellectual curiosity, allow the faculty to exchange learned (and perhaps disagreeing) ideas/commentary about recent cases, and be a source of serious academic thought in the law school. The audience participated in a productive and enlightening Q&A as well.
The law school faculty plans to establish a new tradition by holding this program annually.
