Two teams from Liberty University School of Law reached the quarter-final round of the National Constitutional Law Moot Court competition in Virginia Beach over the weekend.
Lucy Brado was named the fifth-best oralist at the tournament. Brado and Michael Minerva reached the quarter-finals, but the University of Houston prevailed and later finished second in the tournament.
Adam Walton and Ben White also reached the quarter-finals where Texas Tech prevailed and later placed first in the tournament. Texas Tech also won last year’s American Bar Association National Moot Court Competition.
In preliminary rounds, Brado and Minerva faced Cumberland, New York University, Elon and William & Mary. Walton and White faced Marquette, Richmond, Cumberland and Elon.
Professors Scott Thompson and Tim Todd coached the two teams, and said they were well-pleased with the students’ performance.
“Our teams argued very well and lost very close quarter-final rounds,” Professor Thompson said.
“They were excellent in their preparation and delivery, and continued our tradition of excellence at the Hassell tournament.”
Liberty won each of the last two Hassell tournaments. Since competing in this tournament Liberty reached the quarter-finals every year except one.
