Liberty University School of Law Assistant Professor of Law Edna Udobong has just been awarded to receive a Fulbright Specialist grant to teach International Human Rights and International Development at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg Oliver Schreiner School of Law, in Johannesburg, South Africa, during the summer of 2013. The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board sponsor the Fulbright Program and this award.
According to Professor Udobong, she will also contribute and design curriculum on human rights and the rule of law for graduate studies. “I am full of praise to God for this opportunity and recognition. South Africa offers great opportunities for educational ministry and I am deeply excited about how this grant will help secure future collaborations between Liberty University School of Law and South African scholars.”
Professor Udobong is one of more than 400 United States professionals who will travel abroad this year through the Fulbright Specialists Program.
The Fulbright Specialist Program, created in 2000, provides short-term academic opportunities to prominent U.S. professionals to support curricular and faculty development, as well as, institutional planning, at post secondary, academic institutions around the world. Nearly 300,000 leaders of their professional fields have received Fulbright awards, including individuals who later became heads of government; Nobel Prize winners; and leaders in education, journalism, the arts, and other fields.
