Liberty University School of Law proudly congratulates the team of Hannah Reichel (Class of 2011) and Karlee Shelton (Class of 2012) for their victory in the first-ever Southwestern Entertainment Law Negotiation Competition. The team was declared champions on Sunday, October 3, following the final round of competition in the national tournament sponsored by Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California.
“I am extremely proud of our law students and particularly pleased about their victory in the midst of the media and entertainment capital of the world,” said Mathew Staver, Dean of Liberty University School of Law. “When our students succeed, the law school succeeds.”
This competition provided the opportunity for law students from around the country to develop negotiation skills, gain competitive experience, and build team dynamics—all important components for aspiring lawyers.
Dotti Nijakowski, Director of Student Affairs for Liberty University School of Law, accompanied the team to California and witnessed their accomplishment. “Hannah Reichel and Karlee Shelton were so impressive to watch that one could hear audible gasps throughout the crowd,” said Nijakowski.
“I wish to thank Ms. Nijakowski for her support of the team, as well as Professor Joel Hesch for his vision and commitment to coaching the negotiation teams. Additionally, I wish to thank the law students who have quickly risen to the elite competition level year after year. Their commitment to excellence advances the mission of the law school,” concluded Staver.
