Liberty University School of Law dean, Keith Faulkner, recently appointed Timothy M. Todd as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs effective July 1, 2016.

“Tim Todd is a talented teacher, a prolific scholar, and a true servant leader,” said Faulkner.  “I am thrilled that he has joined the leadership team in the School of Law, and I look forward to working with Dean Todd and the entire law school team to raise the law school to new heights.”

In conjunction with the Dean and the faculty, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs serves as the primary academic officer at the law school and is responsible for overseeing the program of legal education. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is also a key member of the leadership team at the law school, and he has a broad portfolio of responsibilities that affect many aspects of the law school. 

“I was deeply humbled to be appointed,” Todd said. “I will work tirelessly to ensure that we strive for academic excellence at the School of Law.” He also noted that, “I fondly remember Dr. Falwell saying ‘If it’s Christian, it ought to be better,’ and that will be my goal as I serve in this role.”

Dean Todd is both an attorney and certified public accountant, and he has taught courses such as individual income taxation, business planning, and mergers & acquisitions. He was awarded an ATAX (Australia School of Taxation) Research Fellowship, being named the 2015 John Raneri Fellow at the University of New South Wales School of Taxation and Business Law in Sydney, Australia. He also serves as a Forbes contributor, where he writes about taxes, tax planning, and tax cases.

He is also an active scholar and his works have been published in the Marquette Law Review, the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review, the Journal of Taxation, the University of Kansas Law Review, the South Carolina Law Review, the Charleston Law Review, the Journal of Tax Practice and Procedure, and the Liberty University Law Review.

In addition to his law degree, Dean Todd holds a master’s degree in accounting, and he formerly clerked for the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington, DC. Todd also has the distinction of being the first Liberty Law alumnus to become a full-time law school faculty member—he graduated summa cum laude from Liberty Law and was first in his law school class.
